A Science seminar was organized on the 4th July’08 for science students of Class XII in the school auditorium. The subject for discussion in the seminar was ‘Communication’. The seminar proceedings opened with the conduction by Trayambak Mishra of XII E, who introduced the idea of communication supported by a history of communication. Students presented slide shows to enlighten the audience about the various mediums of commincation that was followed by the set of questions put to the audience based on the presentation. It was Akash of XII D who introduced the basic jargon related to electronic communication system, and Anurag Upadhyay of XII C highlighted the use of telegraph, telephone, radio. The other students who presented the PowerPoint presentations were Arka Provo Kundu, Ashish Anand, Ruchir Shubro, Nishant Kumar and Ambud Sharma. All in all, it was an enlightening seminar for the audience who also received prizes for answering the questions enthusiastically. The vote of thanks was given by Traymbak Mishra of XII E.

The event was held at Remal public school, Delhi from 27th May to 31st May. The school skaters won three gold medals, three silver medals and six bronze medals. Ayush Mishra declared the best Batsman in under 19 category and Harsh Bansal best bowler in under 14 category. Harsh has also been awarded a scholarship of free coahing at Najafgadh Cricket Club. Now the team will participate in upcoming All India Coca Cola Cup.

Reality shows are no more just a piece of cake for children of metroes. Saumya Trivedi of class VIII of Sunbeam Varuna has been selected by Saroj Khan and her team herself from Varanasi to perform on Nachle with Saroj Khan show on NDTV imagine.The selection was done after a city level audition round held at Sunbeam Lahartara where the top five children of 20 reputed schools participated in the run to perform on indian television. Ambud Sharma. The young scientist of Sunbeam Bhagwanpur class XII put Varanasi on the world map after his blazing performance at ISEF (International Science & Engineering Fair), Atlanta. Ambud was chosen by Intel for his ground breaking project Evaporative Cooling Device named 'Heat Buster' which if and when implemented will give away with the need for environmentally hazardous air conditioners which are threat not only to individual health but also to the ozone layer. As a part of the eight member Indian Team at ISEF, Atlanta, he was chosen from amongst 1,500 participants of 52 countries and was awarded the IV Grand Award (the first two were reserved for USA) and the most prestigious Scholarship of $ 50,000 for undergraduate programs in the Florida Institute of Technology. During the course of the event, Ambud had the good fortune of participating in a Question-Answer session over lunch with eminent Nobel Laureates and the President of Intel Mr. Craig Barrett. On the 22nd of May'08 Hon'ble Minister for Science & Technology, Mr Kapil Sibbal, congratulated Ambud for his achievements at a Felicitation Ceremony held at the Head Office of CSIR, New Delhi. Amongst his most cherished memories of Atlanta Ambud cites the moments he shared with Mrs. Elizabeth Merrinchola, the President, Society for Science & Public, Washington, USA. It was also gratifying when several of the eminent judges offered Ambud their Visiting Cards and said that they look forward to his presence in the industry. Varunites outshined among 250 participants by getting 5 Gold,4 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Sunbeam Varuna also bagged the Runners up Trophy and Junior Championship Trophy. There was 6th UP State Junior Wushu Championship from 27th April - 30th April organised by Jaunpur Wushu Association,Recognized by Indian Olympic Association.Our two Wushu players Mr.Anand Kr.Singh of class XII and Mr.Hasnain Nizami of Class XII participated in the tournament.Anand got a Silver medal for 60 kg weight group and has been selected for National Level.We are proud of you Anand!

Sunbeam Bhagwanpur in its drive towards making Kashi a greener city organized World Earth Day sponsored by the Ministry of Earth Sciences in collaboration with BHU, in a grand style. The occasion was inaugurated by the planting of saplings, followed by a speech by Prof. R. S. Singh, Deptt. of Geophysics and the Nodal officer Agro Meteorology field unit. He admonished the reckless humanity to stage a veritable display of their underlying zeal for a better world and forget their past and start thinking de novo. Mr. Deepak Madhok, Chairman of Sunbeam Group of Educational Institutions in his address to the gathering reiterated his commitment and vision of a safer world. He was quite optimistic the future generation which is being shaped and nurtured in various schools would not leave a stone unturned and would make this world a safe haven for God's loveliest creation. The Mahotsava will have several events all aimed at developing Reading skills. Please encourage your child to put forward his name as Student Reader who will be reading out his/her favourite book to students of other class and discussing the same. It will be wonderful if you also come forward as parents to read books of your choice to any of our classes. That will be a fantastic way to lead the children. Please buy books for your children. Encourage them to read and be our support in this wonderful endeavour to promote reading. We are having books stalls put up in the school premises on 22nd & 23rd of April’08.

Saving the tiger means saving ourselves... The tiger is a beautiful animal. But that is not the only reason we should save it. It is time to realize that when you save the tiger, you save the forest and in turn secure your food and water security. This is because to make sure tigers live, we have to make sure that deer, peafowl and all other animals that the tiger eats (its prey base) live. To make sure that these herbivores live, we must make sure that all the trees, grass and other plants that these prey animals need for food are protected. In this way, the whole forest gets saved! So the tiger becomes an indicator of the forest's health and saving the tiger means saving its entire forest kingdom with all the other animals in it. By saving tiger forests, we protect the catchment areas of our rivers and recharge groundwater sources. The tiger cannot live in places where trees have vanished. In such places, the rain becomes a flood, killing people and destroying homes. It takes away the precious soil, leaving behind a wasteland. The soil jams up our lakes and dams, reducing their ability to store water. By destroying the tiger's home, we not only harm tigers, but also ourselves. There is a very simple, very direct link between saving tigers and saving ourselves. The tiger thus becomes the symbol for the protection of all species on our earth, from the tiniest mosquito to the largest elephant, from birds and flowers to crocodiles and frogs. This is why we sometimes call the tiger, an apex predator, an indicator of our ecosystems' health

It seems only yesterday when Sunbeam Group decided to bring education at your door step with flexi-timing and natural ambience and this March they celebrated their first Prize distribution clubbed with Annual Day- the launch of CHANNEL KIDS. The event took off with Welcome address by Centre Head, Gurmeet Ma’am and Annual Report by coordinator, Rashmi Ma’am. As Director Academics Neha Ma’am put it, the evening held a promise to be a glamorous and rocking one. It started with a bang with welcome dance. Be it costume, choreography, confidence, style or execution, they exuded a matchless verve. Playgroup took the parents for a ride to the animal kingdom through their Rhyme-Medley. If we speak of Jungle, can the tribals be far behind? They came right after and left the audience astounded with the perfect synchronization of their steps and gyrations. The ravishing Jungle beauties and macho Tarzans made the Jungle look so enticing, you at once would want to be a part of it. At last, Sunbeam Kids decided to let loose and have a blast like there was no tomorrow. Dewangi brought down all glitteraties on the stage making it a star studded event. And when one thought there was nothing more one could ask for, the Sunbeam Kids marched in, waving, from all directions making it an apt Grand Finale. 8th March'08, Sunbeam Bhagwanpur was the venue for the most happening Kiddies talent show in town L'il Rockers, a performance by around two hundred toddlers of the Kindergarten section, both from Bhagwanpur and Sunbeam Kids Indiranagar. It is an occasion for children to unwind and break free from all inhibitions to display their talent on stage. Teachers take special care to encourage the shy ones to participate in the event, thus giving a boost to their confidence and also prop them up to participate in other event at school and inter-school level.

Know Your Child, a Workshop for parents was organized at Sunbeam Bhagwanpur Auditorium from 6th to 8th March’08. This workshop was organized by Mr. Sanjay Sharma, the eminent Guru of Art of Living to help parents deal with the complex behaviour of their children. The participating parents found the workshop very fruitful. Through various activities, they realized that there is no concept of an “ideal child” which can be cited as a definition, rather, each child is unique and ideal on his/her own. Parents who find their kids adamant and mood-swung, felt very happy to know that their kids actually have enough potential which needs to be nurtured and guided in a creative way. Amid lots of appreciation from the parents for the valuable insight they acquired from the workshop, it came to conclusion. Parents vowed for improving their role as ‘parents’.

The 59th Republic Day of our Nation was celebrated with great zeal and fervour. The cold winter morning couldn't deter the spirits of the young Sunbeamians who came all geared up to salute the Nation and Our Motherland. The National Flag was hoisted by Chairman Sir, Director Ma'am and Asst. Director Ma'am which was followed by Balloon Release. The short cultural program included a long Jai Jan Bharat by Hobby Class Children, on orchestra presentation by Hostlers qawwali by Children of classes IV, V & VI and a violin presentation by Ishan Pandey and Gaurav Jaiswal of class X. The program came to an end at the melodious note of Vande Matram and every one went home with the spirit of Republicanism infused in their hearts.

The Ceremony began with the lightning of the lamp invoking the blessings of the fine elements of nature. Various Captains & Vice Captains were appointed for the houses Red, Blue, Green & Yellow and the stream of Sports, Discipline, Culture & Health & Hygiene. They were administered the oath by Asst. Sunbeam Bhagwanpur has achieved a great success in 10th Senior Women Boxing Championship held at Mahamaya Stadium, Ghaziabad from 8th to 11th March’07. Sneha Khemka, Vipasha Krishna, Ruchika & Bageshwari of Sunbeam Bhagwanpur won Silver medal in their categories and qualified for National Boxing Championship held on Hyderabad. 400 participants from 14 divisions & UP Police team took part in this mega event.

All work & no play make sunbeamians dull children and so Classes I –VI went for the annual sports tour to Karsana Farms, between 21st Dec. to 28th Dec.’06. They ate, danced and above all, took part in various sports activities, like frog race, flat race three legged race and balance race etc. All the students actively participated in the various races and had lots of fun. They were given certificates which appreciated their efforts . Class V students went to the Botanical garden and Kala Bhawan for their annual educational tour. The students learnt about various leaf venations, leaf types, soil & wormy composting. They also collected fallen leaves for their scrap book. Antiques from Kala Bhawan left the children amused and amazed as they then understood the life of early man. They all came back happy & satisfied. Class VI students visited the Sunbeam Gramin School, Karsana, a free school run for the village children. The village school children were interviewed by the Sunbeamians, about their hours of study, play and work. Sunbeamians amazed to learn that all the village children help their parents in physical work after school. The village children danced had lots of fun with the class VI students.

Sunbeam Bhagwanpur won the champions trophy in the junior section of Eureka international held at CMS Lucknow from 24th Nov to 27th Nov. About 70 teams from all over the world participated in this competition. Sunbeam Bhagwanpur’s Pios & Nikhil won the second prize in Kaleidoscopic Dawn, a multimedia presentation on evolution in technology. Ankush, Nikhil, Rajkanya, Titas & Pios won the third prize in Vox Populi which was a campaign against terrorism. Rajkanya & Titas got the 3rd prize in Rhetoric Chanteuse. Sukrti, Ankita, Maulik & Shruti got the 2nd prize in Tintinnabulation in Wall Street. This phenomenal achievement of the Sunbeamians of Bhagwanpur got them the champions trophy for the second time in a row. The team from Sunbeam Bhagwanpur was accompanied by Ms. Shikha Mishra of the English Dept. The Chairman Mr. Deepak Madhok & Dir. The students paid their tribute and reverences to Dr. Ishrat Madhok, the mentor and guide of every Sunbeamian. Dr. Ishrat Madhok was an enigmatic, multifaceted personality. He was a renowned scholar and writer of Persian and Urdu. His character was a rare combination of integrity, dauntlessness, practicality, sensitivity and generosity. The tiny-tots of sunbeam Bhagwanpur presented ‘Shrek ‘for the Annual Parents Night (KG Section) to mark the birth anniversary of the school’s founder Late Dr. Amrit Lal ‘Isshrat’ Madhok.. It was a gala performance staged by over 150 kids, aged between 2.5 Yrs to 5 yrs. The light & sound effect, the stunning costumes & the marvelous backdrop left the audience enthralled and spell bound. “Shrek” was staged The program was highlighted by the presence of chief guest Mr. Rajiv Agrawal, District Magistrate, Varanasi who was welcomed by Mr. Deepak Madhok (Chairman), Mrs Bharati Madhok (Director), Mr. Harsh Madhok (Executive Director) & his wife Mrs. Neha Madhok. “Shrek” was a beautiful & gorgeous manifestation of the theme “Ugly is beautiful” or “handsome is what handsome does”. Dussehra is regarded as one of the most significant and important Hindu festivals, celebrated in Sunbeam School, Bhagwanpur with much fervor and gaiety. The festival marks the victory of Lord Ram over demon king Ravana, which means the victory of good over evil, light over darkness. Beautifully decorated from Ram's life are taken out on the stage. The effigy of Ravana, was burnt in open spaces. Actors dressed as Ram, arrived and shoot arrows of fire at the effigy , which was stuffed with firecrackers. As a part of the celebration, Dandia Dance was performed by the teachers of Junior Shift to entertain the children. The “Mahishasur Mardhan” was staged by Dance and Music teacher Miss Barsha and Mr. Gaurav in different manner in the school with equal zeal and enthusiasm.

Students of class VII, X and XII conducted a special assembly on this occasion highlighting the hindi language and it’s importance as a National Language. The principal, Mrs Rupam Sah and the vice-pricipal, Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur delivered a speech in hindi and encouraged the students to develop their reading habit of hindi literature. The Brahma Prakash Memorial Material Quiz-06 was held at Metal and meteorological Dept., IT, BHU on 19th of August 2006. Around 16 groups participated from 8 schools. The Team A and B of Sunbeam School, Bhagwanpur won the 1st and 2nd position in the first round respectively. Team A of Sunbeam, Bhagwanpur has been selected for International Round which will be held in IGARC, Kalpakam on 30th of September 2006. The team was led by Mr. R.K Pandey.
