 Admissions

If the child doesn't qualify in an Entrance Test, will he/she be allowed to appear for another Entrance Test?
No, the child can not appear for two Entrance Tests until re-test is allowed by the management and to do so one will have to purchase another Admission Form.

When does the admission process begin?
It begins in the first week of January.

Can an admission form bought from one branch be used for admission in some other branch?
Yes, forms issued by one branch can be submitted in any branch within the Group, for entrance exam.

What is the procedure for inter branch transfer of students within the Group?
First an application stating the reason of transfer should be approved by the Principal of the school where the child is studying and then an inter-branch transfer form is to be purchased from fee counter. The form is then filled and submitted at the branch seeking transfer. The child's T.C. is transferred internally.

I want admission of my ward in class XI. Can I know the eligibility criteria for each stream?

Is there any direct admission to class XI?
Yes, direct admission for students securing 85% and above in CBSE/ICSE Class X Board Examination is available.

 Fees

What is the process for depositing fees?
Fee is collected at the fee counters of the individual branches on all working days as per the schedule and other details mentioned in the Fee Card.

What are the rules regarding late fees?
Rules as per the Fee Card are strictly followed.

Is there any fee concession for SC/ST candidates?
Yes, as per rules there is concession for SC/ST candidates to avail which parents have to submit SC/ST/OBC certificate for the same.

Is there a provision for concession if two children from the same family are studying in the school?
No, there is no such provision of concession in this case.

 Academics

What are the school timings?
School timings are available with individual branches, they are also available on individual branch website pages.
 

How many tests/exams are conducted in a session?
For class I – IX & XI:
4 unit tests (2 before H.Y.)

What happens if my child misses a Weekly Test, Monthly Test, Unit Test, Semester Examination or any other examination?
There is no provision for re-testing students, who remain absent on the day or the examination, or those who have failed in one or more subjects.

On what basis does the school award Scholarship?
Scholarship is awarded on the basis of excellence in academics and/or extra curricular performance of the child. Over all toppers (I- XI) avail Rs. 300/- as scholarship per month. Class X students securing 85% and above receive scholarship of Rs. 250/- per month.

 Transport

What is the process for requesting a change in bus stop/route?
Bus stops/routes are not allowed to be changed frequently. In case of change of residence or any other valid reason, a written request for the same is to be submitted to the Principal/Vice Principal. A change in the stop/route can be effected only if there is a vacancy in the bus applied for.

Can we be provided the school bus mobile phone number?
On principal, no one is provided the bus mobile phone numbers. In case you need to provide any urgent last minute information, you can ring up the School Administrative Office and your message will be conveyed to the bus in-charge of your child's bus.

If the bus is delayed on the return journey what should I do?
Due to heavy rush hour traffic or other unforeseen traffic jams like rallies, etc., the School bus may be delayed. Under such circumstances, you may call the School/Administrative Office and get further information.

 Leaves

What are the procedures if my child has to take leave of absence for few days?
For promotion and ranking in class at least 75% attendance is compulsory. In case of leaves for few days, application can be sent through the student's Almanac. Leaves for longer days have to be requested to the Principal along with documentary proof.

How can a child avail leave of absence during school hours, if need be?
Leave during school hours is strongly discouraged. In case of emergency the student has to submit an application signed by the parents. In case of juniors/girls, students are allowed to leave only if the parents/guardians come in person to school to pick their child back.

What are your rules for half-day leave?
In case half-day leave is required, an application regarding the same must be sent to the Class Teacher. The parent/guardian must come to drop/pick-up the child depending on which half (morning/afternoon) the leave is availed.

 Miscelleneous

How to remain informed about the latest happenings/events in Sunbeam?
The junior students are issued a notice in most of the cases. Parents are also informed through the students' Almanacs. The events are regularly notified on the website under News section.  Queries are also entertained by the School PBX.

How does a student get a Duplicate Identity Card in case of loss/damage of the original one?
A duplicate Identity Card is issued to a student on payment of Rs 30. The amount is to be deposited in individual branch's fee counter.

Is a child allowed to carry money/valuables to school?
For senior students carrying pocket money is allowed. In no case should a child bring valuables to school.

What are the channels of communication with the school authorities /teachers?
Parents are expected to make use of the child's Almanac at the first instance, which is the regular and most effective channel for communication with the school. The school conducts Parents-Teachers Meetings as per dates mentioned in the School Annual Calendar (which is issued to each student).The School PBX is at the service of the parents on 24 hours basis on all days. In urgent cases parents can meet in person the school PRO and get their problems redressed. All notices are available on the Sunbeam Notice Board in our site. How does one report change in address etc. to the school?
In case of change in any detail about the student's particulars, the school needs to be informed immediately so as to maintain effective communication with the school. Such information is sent to the child's class teacher.

How do I recover my child's lost belongings?
Claim for lost valuables is not entertained as students are prohibited to bring such things to school unless otherwise permitted for specific purposes. Loss of regular items viz bag, books, copies, lunch box, tie, belt etc are reported to the Coordinator through the student's almanac. Students are advised to mark their things with their name, class and section for easier settlement of the complaint. In no case does the school promise any reimbursement.
