 Conduct and Discipline

  1. A student should carry his almanac to the school everyday. The almanac should be complete in all respects with photograph of the child and duly signed by the parents.
  2. Students coming by their own conveyance must arrive in the school before the bell rings.
  3. Students should be dressed tidily everyday in the school uniform. The uniform is also to be worn for all school functions. Students in untidy or incomplete uniform will be sent back home. All the students are to wear their identity card daily.
  4. The observance of rules of discipline of the school and good behavior is absolutely essential for a student's continuance in the school. No shouting or whistling is allowed inside the school campus.
  5. Students must be well mannered, polite and well disciplined. To throw anything at anyone is strictly forbidden. Bullying and use of foul and abusive languages is a punishable offence.
  6. Students are expected to respect the school properties and handle them carefully. No one should damage or scribble on the furniture or write or draw on the walls. In case of any damage the student will be penalized to the amount of the damage caused. Students are not allowed to bring any sharp instruments or fire crackers inside the school campus.
  7. It is the duty of the students to keep their school, class room and campus absolutely neat and clean. Garbage and leftovers must be thrown in the dustbin only.
  8. The school is in no way responsible for goods lost in the campus. It is not advisable to bring valuables to the school.
  9. Students going back home alone must be prompt in doing so. In case of delay by the parents in collecting the child from the school campus, the child must repot to the office immediately.
  10. Parents and guardians cannot visit their wards or teachers in the classrooms during the school hours without the prior permission of the Principal.
  11. Recalling the child from school midway through the periods or in the interval must not be encouraged until and unless it is absolutely necessary.
  12. Students must get the report cards signed by the parents/guardians within 5 days of the receipt of the same.
  13. Students are not to miss any teaching, games or activity period irrespective of the teacher's presence.
  14. Sunbeam provides education from Playgroup to class XII. Therefore it is expected of the juniors to respect the seniors. At the same time the seniors must earn the respect of the juniors by behaving properly and maintaining discipline and decorum.
  15. An application for leave or absence mentioning proper reasons must be submitted in case a student absents himself from regular classes.
  16. The students should enter the computer room after taking their shoes off. They must be absolutely careful while working with the hardware or software and follow the instructions given by the teachers strictly. Any deviations from the instructions will lead to cancellation of their practical.
  17. Complete silence is to be observed in the library. The books will be issued only on the card or the almanac. Books issued have to be properly handled and returned on time, failing which, a fine will be charged.
  18. The school reserves the right to suspend or take disciplinary actions against students whose performance is found below standard and conduct unsatisfactory.
  19. Since Sunbeam is a co-educational school, it is expected that the students behave in a manner which brings good name to the school. At the same time the students are expected to carry on the same behavior outside the school campus also so that the name of the school is not tarnished in any way.
  20. In case any student violates the school rules and regulations in any way, or indulges in any form of indiscipline or malpractices, strict action like expulsion/suspension/rusticating will be taken against the students.

 Recommendations to Guardians

  1. Encourage your ward to take a balanced interest in studies, co-corricular activities and sports.
  2. Restrict daily pocket money, excessive spending should be discouraged.
  3. Plan further education of your wards beyond the school in good time so that they may be eligible to compete for admission to the maximum number of institutions of higher education.
  4. All parents are requested to impart health education to the children so that they :
    1. Maintain personal hygiene like : trimming of nails, hair cutting/dressing and being neat on a regular basis.
    2. Exercise regularly.
    3. Sleep for at least eight hours daily.
    4. Have a balanced diet, nutritionally rich in proteins and vitamins.
    5. Drink water which is boiled or filtered. (All students are advised to bring their own water bottles from home.)
    6. De-worm children at least once every year and visit a dentist regularly.
    7. The children should be immunized as per the prescribed schedule.
  5. Students suffering from infectious and contagious diseases should not be sent to school.

 School Uniform

For Girls : White blouse with tie-collar, red checked skirt (inverted box pleats), white socks and black shoes (leather, regularly polished). The school tie, belt and badge are available from the school store. (Skirt should be just above the knee). The girls must wear trousers in place of skirts in winter.

Hair Dress - Hair should either be bobbed (not below shoulder level) or two plaits tightened with white rubber bands across. Only white rubber bands and hair bands should be used.

For Boys : White shirt with tie collar, grey trousers, white socks and black shoes ( Leather, regularly polished). The school tie, belt and badge are available from the school store, (Trouser flare should not be more than 14.5" for senior boys). From class IV upwards Trousers are compulsory.

Hair cut - Only a short hair cut is allowed. On Wednesdays : All students must wear T-shirts (House wise) with skits/trousers with P.T. shoes (Canvas, regularly whitened). The white skirts must have a checked cloth piping on it.

Winter : All children from class IV onwards are required to wear Navy Blue single breasted Blazer with monogram. Grey Pullover with blue stripes with monogram may be worn along with the Blazer. Trousers are to be worn by both boys & girls of all classes.

K.G. Section Uniform :

Girls : Red checked skirts with a bib. Red Checked Bow, belt, badge, white socks, black shoes, white shirts with puffed sleeves and a red piping. The Girls must wear red checked trousers in place of skirts in winter. On Wednesdays : White skirts with bib, Red Checked, bow tie, belt, white shoes and socks, white trousers are compulsory in winters.

Boys : Red checked knicker with galluses (in summer), Red checked trousers with galluses (in winter), Red checked bow, white shirt, black shoes, white socks. On Wednesdays : White knickers (in summer), white trousers (in winter) with galluses, Red checked bow, belt, badge, white socks & shoes.

Compulsory :

  1. Trousers are to be worn by all the boys and girls in the school during winter.
  2. Identity Card should be worn and brought to school daily along with the school badge.
  3. As long as a student is on the school rolls, he/she must invariably come to school in the school uniform.
  4. All blazers and jerseys must be marked with the child's name, class & section in order to enable the school to restore lost property to the rightful owner.

 Admission and Withdrawl

  1. At the time of admission a student must produce a satisfactory evidence of the date of birth such as a birth certificate for the KG section or an affidavit and a Transfer Certificate of the previous school from Class I upwards. The original & photo copy of the previous school's mark sheet is a must.
  2. A student will be admitted only to the class mentioned on the Transfer Certificate and to no higher class nor will a student be promoted before the end of a school calendar year.
  3. The school leaving certificate of a student joining the school from classes VII to XII must be countersigned by the educational authorities of the district in which the previous school is situated.
  4. No fresh admission will be granted after class IX.
  5. Students getting above 60% in the CBSE board exam of X can only be considered for admission to class XI. The percentage requirements are different of Science, Commerce, and Humanities Stream.
  6. Students will not be allowed to change their subjects after Half Yearly exam of class XI.
  7. Application on a prescribed form available from the school, for the school leaving certificate should be made in writing by the parent/guardian.
  8. A school leaving certificate will not be issued until all the fees are paid. Those who leave in mid session have to pay for the full term.
  9. A fee of Rs. 100/- will be charged for a T.C. and this will be issued only three days after the receipt of the withdrawal form duly signed by the guardian. Aduplicate copy of T.C. shall be made available on payment of Rs. 100/-. If a T.C. is to be countersigned by the education authorities an extra fee of Rs. 100/- will be charged.

 Fee Rules

  1. School fees should be paid before the date mentioned on the fee card. A fine of Rs. 20/- will be charged, if the fees is paid in the next month. If the fees is not paid for 2 consecutive months a fine of Rs. 100/- will be charged.
  2. If the fees is not paid for three consecutive months the name of the child will be struck off the rolls. A re-admission charge of Rs. 500/- will then be charged to re-admit the child after obtaining special permission from the Principal.
  3. If a student is absent for a month without any prior information, his/her name will be struck off the rolls.
  4. All fees (Computer, tuition, laboratory, transport, establishment) will be charged for 12 months.
  5. Anyone wishing to leave the transport facilities must give one month's prior notice and pay the full session's fees.
  6. Fees once paid cannot be refunded or adjusted under any other head.
  7. Students will not be allowed to sit for any examination until all fees due to the school are paid.

 Student Body

  • There are 4 houses in school namely - Love, Peace, Hope and Joy. Every student from classes III to XII is in one of these houses.
  • Each house is led by 2 Captains (one girl, one boy) and 2 Vice-Captains (one girl, one boy).
  • They, along with the Head Boy and Head Girl, Vice-Captains of the school and Prefects, form the Students Council.
  • Each house is under the charge of a Senior Teacher who, in turn, is assisted by several other Teachers.
  • Houses earn points of credit for their performance in co-curricular activities, games, sports etc.
  • At the end of the year, the house with the highest points is awarded a running trophy.
  • Inter-House competitions are organised in sports, dramatics, debates, quizzes, etc.
  • Every Class elects 2 monitors and these monitors are expected to maintain the decorum in the class in the absence of the teacher.
  • They are expected to set a very good example to the rest of the class in matters of dress and behaviour.
  • The monitors have to regularly maintain a copy bearing datewise and periodwise details of subjects taught with signature of the Teachers taking individual classes.

 Awards and Prizes

Awards and prizes are presented to deserving students at the end of a scholastic session. They are as follows :

  1. Students securing highest marks in each subject.
  2. First rank holder prize.
  3. Second rank holder prize.
  4. Third rank holder prize.
  5. Overall topper in academics.
  6. General proficiency.
  7. 100% Attendance prize.
  8. Best all rounder prize.
  9. Bonus marks (upto 10) are awarded to students excelling in sports and other co-curricular activities which will be added to the grand total. This may also affect the rank of the students.
Running tropies, scholarships and prizes are given for Inter House/Inter Class competitions and activities.

 Examination and Promotion

  1. Children should come to school in time, well equipped for the examination since no borrowing or talking is allowed. In case of doubt all queries should be addressed to the invigilator.
  2. No student should indulge in any unfair means during an examination. If a child is caught in any such act, the Principal and Management reserve the right of taking whatever action they deem fit including rustication in extreme and repetitive cases.
  3. The Answer sheets of the Half Yearly Exams will be shown to the guardians during P.T. meeting only if all the fee dues are clear.
  4. In case a guardian wants to see the copies of the annual exams he/she must give an application for the same within 6 days of the declaration of annual results. The copies will be shown on a payment of Rs. 100- per copy.
  5. In case a child has less than 75% attendance he/she will not be permitted to appear for the Annual Exam and the CBSE Board Exam.
  6. Students who are absent in any of the examinations due to sickness should submit a medical certificate at the earliest during the examination period itself.
  7. No examination will be held before the time scheduled for such examination. There will be no re-examination in case of absence from any examination or test.
  8. For promotion to the next class it is essential that a student obtains at least 40% inevery subject.
  9. A student who fails twice in the same standard will be asked to leave the school.
  10. All cases of doubt regarding promotion are left entirely to the discretion of the Principal whose decision shall be final.
  11. Promotion once refused will not be reconsidered.
